Developed around 2009 by Sasha Petraske and Sam Ross of Milk and Honey. The recipe is riff on the -Last Word- (A classic equal parts gin cocktail), the drink consists of equal parts Bourbon Whiskey, Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and lemon juice. The cocktail's name is a reference to the M.I.A. track "Paper Planes", wich was the soundtrack for the creation of the drink.

Paper plane is a really beautiful aperitivo cocktail, that matches sweet, sour and bitter flavors in a really refreshing and fancy way.

As mundane as it may seem, there are many factors that make the Martini the most famous and renowned cocktail in the world.

When the United States Prohibition was repealed, the newly elected President Franklin Delano Roosevelt prepared a dry Martini at the White House. A few years later, at the Tehran Conference in 1943, Roosevelt himself prepared a Martini for Stalin. The most famous and well-known in popular culture is James Bond's iconic Martini, which is ordered or received by the secret agent 007 in every movie.

Classic cocktails served during the alcohol prohibition in USA, where Jazz and Cocktails were like bread and butter

DRINKS / BEATS

    • 5 cl Bourbon Whiskey

    • Fill up with Champagne

      Build on glass

      Garnish: Orange peel

Like most classic cocktails, the exact origin of the "Bourbon Highball" is unclear. However, what we know for sure is that bartenders served thousands of Bourbon Highballs during the alcohol prohibition in the USA, a time when jazz was born in states like New Orleans and Louisiana. Drinking a Bourbon Highball in a hidden bar with a jazz band playing in the background was a common occurrence.

The Bourbon Highball is one of the easiest classic cocktails to make and, in my opinion, one of the most refreshing drinks a person can order at a bar. It's actually easier to make a good Bourbon Highball than a bad one.
